POst website reflection
In this project, we were asked to help out Robert McCoy and his 8th grade class. To do this we were asked to create some kind of a substitute for the boring history books. When we were looking for a way to do this we tried to find a substitute that wouldn’t just teach the 8th graders, but also something that would hook them in and entice them to want to learn more about the topics given. When we thought about all of these things we thought to ourselves what are kids these days always connected to and so we came up with the grand plan to create a website and to use YouTube videos to keep the 8th graders from getting bored out of their minds.
My group and I decided it was the best idea to create a website in which, the 8th graders could access via their Chromebooks that are available for them at school. When we ultimately decided on a website, we were faced with the task of trying to make the website easy to navigate and easy to understand for an 8th grade education level.
To do this we read about the different enlightenment philosophers and the founding documents that we were asked to teach the 8th graders about. Due to the fact that as New Technology students, we already knew our way around Weebly.com we didn’t really use a workshop to create our final product. During this project we learned about the different philosophers and how their ideals relate to the different governments of today, including our very own United States government.
The most difficult thing for me during this project was probably the writing assignments we had to do. The main reason that the writing assignments where such a struggle for me was because I have trouble getting my thoughts out of my head and on to the paper and even though I know the content, it’s hard for me to write the content. When it comes to talking about the content, I have no problems what so ever.
I feel like I have grown the most in Knowledge and thinking because I learned a lot about the philosophers and their ideals. While doing the background research for this project, I learned a lot about each philosopher and the different types of government they supported. I believe that this was good for me to learn because it really tied all of the fundamental ideals of each government together for me.
